JEREMIAH 15-16:
The dialog between the Lord and Jeremiah continued in our reading yesterday. We heard of the drought. And the Lord forbid Jeremiah to pray for the people of Judah.

PSALM 145:
Today's poem, Psalm 145, is an acrostic poem in Hebrew, and it gives us a great place to start when praising God.

1CORINTHIANS 1:18—2:
Let’s not allow the chapter division between chapters 1 and 2 in 1st Corinthians to interrupt what Paul teaches us about God’s wisdom! So today we’ll start reading in chapter 1 verse 18.

Let’s pray.
Our heavenly Father, may You use the book of 1st Corinthians to transform us! If— as Paul says— we have this union with Christ Jesus— being joined as one with Him, then why, oh why, are there such divisions between us? It is evident that some of our leaders have sought to gain a following for prideful reasons. Lord, as we have read in Jeremiah, your judgment will be severe on false prophets who have enticed people with false promises and visions they have just dreamt up themselves. In fact, we see here that your wisdom is never in sync with what the world considers wisdom. Lord, help us to forsake worldly power for true spiritual power. Help us to leave worldly wisdom, in order to have true wisdom from You. May we never boast except in what You have done! And may our messages always point to Christ and his work on the cross to save us. Destroy our pride, our worldly wisdom, and our boasting. May our joy be in the amazing fact of your gracious kindness to us through Christ.
