The Magnificence Of Christ In The Psalms

DAY 2 OF 30

My Fortress

Dear Father, I am so glad the Lord Jesus is my Fortress! I think of all that a fortress represents—a stronghold, a fortified town, a source of refuge, a high place, and many more settings that provide me and all others who reside there with complete and eternal safety, security, protection, deliverance and rest. I rejoice that our bodies, minds and souls are under His all powerful lordship, and that we can put our trust in Him at all times.

I exalt Jesus that He combines all there is of strength, rock, fortress, deliverer, refuge, shield, horn of my salvation, and stronghold. I agree with King David in calling out to the Fortress to save me, my family, the whole Church, and all people. I join with Martin Luther in singing some of “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”: (verse 1) A mighty fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing: Our helper He, amid the flood, Of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe, Doth seek to work us woe; His craft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. (verse 2) Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing, Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He; Lord Sabaoth His Name, From age to age the same, And He must win the battle.” Jesus, the mighty Fortress, is worthy of praise! In His name I pray these things.

About this Plan

The Magnificence Of Christ In The Psalms

Each daily devotional has a different name or attribute of God from the Psalms that is ultimately fulfilled in Christ. You will read the Psalm with Christ's name in it, then worship Him and pray for His Lordship of your life based upon His name of the day. Hopefully, this will help you know Christ more and love Him more. All Scripture used is from the NIV Bible.
