40acts: The Lent Generosity Challenge

DAY 3 OF 47

Jesus showed us, on more than one occasion, that there aren’t limitations on generosity. He didn’t help some and reject others but came to help all that were lost and hurting. Jesus helped those that were on the fringes of society. Take Zacchaeus, the tax collector; people talked when Jesus called him down from the tree and invited himself to his home. It was well known that tax collectors were taking a little for themselves, stealing from those less fortunate. People were angry with Zacchaeus and, by proxy, Jesus, but this didn’t stop Jesus from showing love, thus transforming Zacchaeus’ life and those around him.

Jesus cared for the woman suffering from bleeding in the Bible. He told her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.’ Issues which we might find shameful or embarrassing are not to Him. God sometimes challenges us to go outside of our comfort zones to show a little of Him to those that may have been forgotten.

About this Plan

40acts: The Lent Generosity Challenge

What if Lent was about giving out instead of giving up? This Bible plan is an adaptation of the full 40acts challenge. Our hope is that as you explore and practice biblical generosity in all areas of your life, you would experience its transformational impact. Each day contains a prompt for one act of generosity on that day's topic, with Sunday reflections summarising the theme of the acts that week.
