New Mind; New Man!

DAY 1 OF 5

All Things New

Therefore if any person is [engrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMPC)

God made all things new for us after Jesus’ death, and that is such good news. Who doesn’t love a new beginning? So often, I look back on life and see the many new beginnings God has given me, and it moves me to joy. To appreciate what God has done for us we must first understand what we were delivered from. After the fall of man in the garden where sin and death entered in we were heading for grave destruction. Adam and Eve were in a powerful position to govern, rule and dominate their atmosphere and physical surroundings. God gave them dominion over all of the earth’s resources and animals, and they had the power over their mind, will, emotions and body. The spirit of man was superior and governed the soul and body and they communicated with God with their spirit. Disobedience to God’s instructions opened the door wide for the enemy to enter in and switch the whole order around for governance. Now man was ruled by his mind, will, and emotions and permitted the body to have and do whatever it demanded.

God was not satisfied to leave man in this degenerate condition, and because of His great love for us He made a way through Jesus; His death, burial, and resurrection opened the door for man to now have a new beginning. Outside of Christ man will continue to operate under the old condition of sin and death with no hope of ever governing and dominating as God had originally intended. However, once a person comes into a relationship with Jesus a new beginning is granted. This means we no longer must be dominated by our flesh giving into every whim and fancy, but we can now operate from a place of self-control and peace.

When we become born again, God gives us a new heart (see Hebrews 8:10), and we are warned in the book of Proverbs to guard our hearts (see Proverbs 4:23). We only get a new heart once, but the Apostle Paul admonishes us in the New Testament to renew our minds and therein lies the key to remaining a new man. If we keep our thought life synchronized with God’s words and ways we will be stable in holding our position as the new creation!

Day 2

About this Plan

New Mind; New Man!

Man is blessed with a powerful tool- “ the mind. ” Our thought life is so powerful that it charts the course of our destiny. The author of Proverbs states, “As a man thinks in his heart so is he” What thoughts are streaming through your heart today? Are they thoughts on life or death, health or sickness, love or hate, faith or fear, because what you think today will produce your tomorrow!
