Hulle het almal oorgenoeg kos om te eet, maar ek het nie eens ’n stukkie droë brood om my honger te stil nie. Hier sit ek en sterf van ellende! Vandag nog gaan ek terug na my pa se huis toe. Ek sal vir hom sê: Pa, ek het baie lelik met Pa gemaak. Ek het ook nie na God geluister nie. Ek verdien nie om langer Pa se seun te wees nie. Vat my asseblief terug as ’n doodgewone werker hier op Pa se plaas.’ “Die jongman het toe teruggegaan na sy pa se huis toe. Toe hy nog ’n hele ent van die huis af was, het sy pa hom herken. Hy was so bly dat hy dadelik na hom toe gehardloop het. Toe hy by sy seun kom, het hy hom omhels en hom gesoen van blydskap. “Toe sê die seun vir sy pa: ‘Pa, ek het baie lelik met Pa gemaak.
