Healing & Freedom - Disciple Makers Series #9Sample

Healing & Freedom - Disciple Makers Series #9

DAY 6 OF 6

The Personal Testimony of Matthew

Thoughts on the message

This is Matthew’s personal testimony.  Here is where Jesus calls him.

People did not consider him worthy.  They thought Matthew was not worthy either to eat with Jesus or to follow Him.

Jesus saw something no one else saw.  He saw a man with a heart to follow Jesus – Matthew had some big problems in his life, but Jesus saw past that.

If we are really honest with ourselves, we also have big problems in our lives – it’s just that no one sees them.  So outwardly we look “okay” and God “should” consider us.  God sees everyone as sick people that need a spiritual doctor.  The question is – do we see ourselves that way?  Even better, do we see that every sick and needy person can be touched by this Doctor?

Time to Pray

Father, forgive me when I look at people and their problems and make a judgment about whether I should try to help them.  Jesus looked way past that – and I want to look past that as well.  Teach me today to see all people with Your eyes.  Teach me not to look at the problems people face but instead see them as someone like Matthew – someone the Father can use in a mighty way.  What would I see if everyone I saw looked like a Matthew?  Would I treat them differently?  That scares me, because I probably would – and I want to treat them all the same – just like Jesus did.  So help me today.  In Jesus’ name I pray Amen.
