EXPECTING A RESCUE What turmoil racked David’s life! He had abandoned his homeland, become a warrior for the countrymen of Goliath, intended to march against Saul and battle fellow Israelites, was rejected by Philistine generals and now the Amalekites had ravaged Ziklag. It was so bad that David’s own men were close to mutiny. To make matters worse, Abigail was a hostage. David prayed and sought the counsel of godly advisers. Then he led his men to the recovery of all the captives and stolen property.
