TEN TIMES BETTER READ Daniel and his friends took a risk in resisting the lifestyle of Babylon. But God glorified them and made them ten times better than all those around them. Instead of doing things the world’s way, they trusted God for the result and God showed them and the Babylonians how He could take care of His people. God is the same today as He was with Daniel and his friends. He wants to bless and promote His people because He loves us and He will use our lives as a testimony that honors Him. If we lack wisdom, we can ask Him and He will give us generously (James 1:5). He will promote us to be the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13). Christians should not be afraid to aspire for leadership, believe for excellence in academics, or success at work because we know it is not our strength and wisdom that’s doing it, but God’s. And we also know that it is not for our own glory and honor that He does it, but it is to glorify Himself. REFLECT 1. What challenges are you facing in school, home, or extra-curricular activities now? Are you asking God to give you the ability to excel in those areas? 2. Are there times that you feel intimidated by the world? Are there times that you think you cannot possibly influence others? Who is truly in charge? RESPOND 1. Read Psalm 18 and see how God comes to the rescue of His people. How does this psalm apply in your situation? 2. Is there something God is telling you to step into or attempt with Him? Have you been delaying it? Maybe it’s time to step out and trust God for the results.
