Partnership with God

Once we have a thriving connection with God AND we have consecrated ourselves to God, prayer only continues to get more exciting! The third step in the Progression of Prayer is outward prayer—where we partner with God against our enemy and negative circumstances. It’s here that we ask for God’s help to confront the Devil and pray, “God, help me defeat this attack of the enemy, the giants opposing me, and the mountains of opposition surrounding me.” Outward Prayer is where we see the Kingdom of Heaven invading earth. This is where we see mountains moved and the enemy stopped in his tracks. Through calling on God’s mighty power in Outward Prayer, miracles are unleashed, people are healed, marriages are restored, and prodigals are returned home.

Practically, Outward Prayer is where we see God’s kingdom and dominion come to earth. At the cross, Jesus took dominion and authority over the world’s system and invited us—His Church—to partner with Him through prayer. Now, we can pray by the authority of Christ and see things change. Every aspect of the earth is influenced by our prayers!

Jesus gave us the power and authority to speak to mountains and see them move through Outward Prayer. Some of the obstacles in our lives are natural and part of our fallen world, but some are demonic and we need a greater power to destroy them. That’s why Jesus taught us to pray against our adversary in the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:13, “…But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” Through Outward Prayer, we press back on the enemy and pray for God’s kingdom to come into our lives!

Common types of outward prayer seen throughout Scripture include the prayer of intercession, prayer of faith, and prayer of agreement. My wife and I join together in Outward Prayer every night and pray for God’s intervention in our lives and intercede for the lives of others.

Be encouraged today—God has invited YOU into partnership with Him through Outward Prayer. You can start daily taking dominion over the enemy and any force holding you back by decreeing and declaring God’s kingdom on the earth!
