God Prepares His People

All throughout the Old Testament we see how God, in His kindness and grace, prepared His people for what was to come. It wasn’t always clear, and He rarely gave a timeframe, but He let His people know what was coming.

The birth of Jesus was no different. We see this in a few scriptures throughout the Old Testament, God pointing towards the Son. Through His Word, God was helping to lift the eyes of His people to see that there was a miraculous birth coming that would usher in the Son. The One who would bring salvation and redemption. The One who would make a way for men and women to become sons and daughters of the King. The One who would enable an eternal inheritance and access to the heavenly Father’s love.

And He also prepared us for the power that Jesus would hold. His arrival would be bringing restoration for the lowly and the broken. Justice for those whom the enemy has targeted. An unlimited power that is greater than any other. God knew that the world would need a Saviour and He sent His one and only Son for us, that we would find redemption and mercy and love in Him.

As we prepare our hearts for Christmas, may we be reminded that God has always been for us. He has always been pointing us towards Jesus, the only One who could make a way for us.
