If you’ve listened to any popular music over the years, it probably didn’t take long to find a song that mentions light. There’s the Beatles song, “Here Comes the Sun,” or, “Shine” by Carrie Underwood. There are even Disney movies that have jumped into the mix, with songs like “At Last I See the Light.” No matter the style or genre they were written in, all these songs have one thing in common: the focus on the power of light.

Whenever we find ourselves in darkness, light can change everything. When all of our days seem dreary and grey, if we find our source of light, we can move from sadness to hope. As followers of Jesus, we not only know the ultimate source of light, we know a God who is light Himself. We follow a God who not only can bring the light to every dark corner of our lives, but a God who promises to do just that whenever we call. It’s the light that we have in all of us when we accept Jesus Christ into our lives. A light that can never be overpowered. A light that will lead us to real life.
