Drawing Near

DAY 5 OF 7

THIS IS OUR CONFIDENCE

One of the greatest assaults from Satan, your enemy who hates you and does not want you to pray, is when he attacks your confidence. The devil is cunning at feeding your doubtful thoughts and uncertainty so that you become discouraged and quit seeking God. The problem is that whenever Satan seeks to steal your confidence, he is lying to you because he knows how destructive your confidence in God is, especially when you draw near to Him through prayer.

God wants you to know that you can have confidence when you pray.

God Himself shows us that we can be confident, fully assured, free, and bold in believing His answer when we pray. This is powerful because it shows us that God desires that we become confident, not full of doubt or discouraged when we draw near to Him and give Him our heartfelt petitions.

In 1 John 5:14-15, our confidence is found when we pray according to His will. So you can be fully persuaded that God will answer your prayer when you pray His will and purpose. You may ask, “How do I know God’s will or purpose?” The answer is, that God’s Word is His will. Whatever God has revealed in His Word to us through what He has promised, what He has made a timeless principle, aligns with His nature and character, and is part of His kingdom, is His will.

The promise in this passage is that if we ask God anything according to His will, or what He has said in His Word, He hears us. He fully receives our prayers according to what He has already promised and is ready to act on what He has spoken.

This passage goes on to say that if God hears us praying His will, we know we have the petitions that we have asked of Him! Knowing that God will answer according to His will is a power-packed prayer and gives us confidence as we pray! God wants us to know that He will answer.

God does not cause us to doubt or second-guess; Satan does. God is the God who gives confidence and faith to us. God is the God of knowing and having assurance. The verse before this passage about having confidence in prayer is 1 John 5:13 where God wants us to know that if we believe and receive Christ, we can have assurance and confidence that we are going to heaven, period. God wants you to know that you are saved and not to doubt. He also wants you to know that He hears and answers your prayer when you pray His will.

As you draw near to God today, pray His Word and receive His promises. Have full confidence and faith that what you pray, He will answer according to His will. He hears you and is ready to act on what He has already promised.

PRAYER

“Jesus, as I draw near to you today, I am so thankful that you never want me to doubt, feel insecure, or be defeated as I pray. You are so good to me to let me know that I should be confident and full of faith when I pray to you.

Help me to know more of your Word so that I can know you more. Help me to know more of your Word so that I can pray your will with confidence.

Thank you for listening to me and caring enough to answer me. As I bring my needs, concerns, petitions, and will to you, I trust you to answer personally and powerfully.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
