Romans: A 21-Day Musical Devotional

DAY 1 OF 21

What is Romans?

Romans is one of the most important and well-loved books in the Bible. Part of its significance and meaningfulness to the Church lies in the fact that the themes of this letter are the themes of all of Scripture, focused and crystallized in a clear, concise line of reasoning.

To put it simply, Romans is about how a good God saves sinful people like us: how He is able to declare them legally righteous through faith (called “justification”), how He gradually makes them holier throughout their life (called “sanctification”), and how He will one day make them perfect when Christ returns (called “glorification”). It is also about how these redeemed sinners ought to live in response to His saving love. As is the case of all of Scripture, Romans is the very Word of God, breathed out by Him so that we may be properly taught, reproved, corrected, and trained in righteousness, competent and equipped for every good work.

For the next three weeks, you will be guided through this letter as you read all sixteen chapters and listen to the music from the Romans album by Psallos. The Romans album is a musical adaptation of the Book of Romans, a proclamation through music and poetry of what the apostle Paul (the author) penned through prose. Each day’s devotion features a lyric video that will allow you to listen to the music, read the words that are sung, and even sing along if you’d like. The hope of this devotional is to help you better understand, both intellectually and emotionally, the thrust of God’s word, to help you feel your thoughts and think your feelings so that spirit and truth worship will take place.
