3 Biblical Truths About Money (That Most Christians Miss)

DAY 1 OF 3

Day 1: Money is not inherently evil, but an amplifier of your character

One of the most misquoted verses in all the Bible is this:

“Money is the root of all evil”

But, that’s not what the Bible says. It’s the love of money that is the issue.

When it comes to money, God is after our hearts.

So the important thing to remember is that money itself isn't evil; it's the love of it that can lead to trouble.

Tomorrow we will explore how money is a tool, and like any tool, it can be used for both good and bad purposes.

But first, here's an interesting point to consider: money amplifies our character.

If you're a generous and kind-hearted person, having more money will likely lead to even greater acts of generosity. On the other hand, if you're someone who's greedy or selfish, more money can just intensify those traits.

Think about a drug addict. What do you suspect he will do more of when he gets more money?

On the other hand, what did Mother Theresa do when she received millions of dollars in donations? She used it to help more of the poor in India.

In both cases with the addict and Mother Theresa, money simply amplified their character.

It allowed them to do more of what they were already doing.

Today, reflect on this in your own life.

If God were to allow more resources to flow into your life, how do you suspect you would handle it? What would it amplify in your life?

Let’s pray:

Dear Lord, thank You for the resources You have provided me. I pray that you would search me and reveal anything in my heart that isn’t pleasing to you. Help me to develop the character needed so that when income increases I am ready to use it for your glory. Teach me to be wise, generous, and responsible with my money, so that I can make a positive impact in the world. Amen.
