Something New

DAY 2 OF 6

God is doing something new

We keep going deeper into the passage in Isaiah and not only do we see that God reminds His people that He has been faithful in the past, but He also describes some details of how He worked. He reminds them that He opened a way right through the middle of the Red Sea for them to step on dry land, and then drowned the Egyptian army that was following them.

However, He doesn’t say that He will work in the same way to set them free from Babylon. Verse 19 affirms that He will do something new; in fact, that He is already doing it! God is doing something new. God constantly works in new ways in our life.

We are people of faith and we have to believe in the new things that God has in store for us. Since we have been witnesses of God’s faithfulness in the past, many times we might believe that God will work the same way in the present and in the future. But God didn’t call us to be rigidly structured. God called us to break down structures and paradigms.

God is about to do something new. He has already started! And if the only thing that you can see is how He worked in the past, you will miss the new things that He is doing.

So, let’s not only remember the things He did in the past, but also His faithfulness. And just as He was faithful in the past, He is in the present with new works and ways for each one of us. The past is not brighter than the future. We will always honor the past, but we will be more faithful and loyal to the future, because God has something new.

Prayer: Lord, give me a heart to believe what you are awakening in me. Give me a spirit that looks forward to seeing what you will do. I don’t know how, I don’t know when. I know it won’t be like in Egypt, and that excites me. I know that in the past you made a way through the sea, but now, I’m in the desert and I need you to make a new way. Amen.
