What Is Your Divine Assignment?

DAY 4 OF 6

What a great comparison we read yesterday between Moses and Jesus. But there is way more to discover! Let’s dive into it together.

You could say Moses was a preceder of (the one that comes before) Jesus. By the way, you could say so about a lot of people in the Bible. And where Moses was a preceder of Jesus, we now may be a follower of Jesus. No, not a follower that likes something every now and then on Jesus’ social media feed. No, following Jesus is so much more than that!

There are many ways to explain what ‘following Jesus’ means. But personally, I like the one most that has been written down in all four books about Jesus’ life. Let’s take for example the one from the Bible book Luke, chapter 9:

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross daily and follow me.”

That is what following Jesus means to me. Quit living life just for yourself. Not living according to your own will, your own desires, but living life according to God’s will. And that can be quite hard sometimes. Maybe you can imagine how hard this can be, if you heard the story about my own divine assignment. On the last day of this reading plan, I will give you the link to more resources about it.

Back to baby Moses. Moses was being surrendered to the Nile. No, not in a straw basket, like many of us were taught. Here comes another symbolic comparison between Jesus and Moses.

Straw grows on the riverbank and can only grow after the bulrush, which grew there before, died. Bulrush is weaker than straw and has to make room for straw to grow. Bulrush is the one that comes before straw. Moses, in the box made of bulrush, is the one that came before the stronger straw, Jesus. Moses made room for Jesus.

When we live with God, we have to make room for Jesus as well. And we all have weaker bulrush areas in our life where we can make room for stronger straw. Making room for Jesus in the bulrush areas in your life will make you stronger. And it will help you discover your divine assignment.

> Do you want to make room for Jesus in your life? 🌾

Ah! About that divine assignment. We did not forget that! More about that tomorrow.
