Power Play

DAY 15 OF 15

When we think of all the overwhelming abuses of power and authority that have happened in our history, it’s easy to feel that any sort of change we make in our decision-making doesn’t matter. We may want to do the best for employees, but know that the company culture won’t likely change in the way we want. Or work to make the best possible decisions for your family, but know that your teen may not respect or understand the rules you’ve put in place.

It can seem easier to just use whatever power and authority we have to help ourselves since no one else is jumping in to help us. Eventually, doing the right thing when others don’t can start to be exhausting. But we aren’t doing this alone. Not only is God walking alongside us through every decision, but we’re surrounded by a community of believers who are working to do the same. You’re not alone.

When we’ve been blessed with any sort of power and authority, we’ve been given an opportunity to use it in the best possible way to build up the Kingdom. What can we do to make sure that we don’t grow weary? Who are the people in our lives we can put into place to provide encouragement and to help sustain us when doing the right thing feels so hard?
