Lead as If... Leading With Eternal Perspective

DAY 2 OF 5

Lead as if….

You are impacting lives beyond the four walls of your leadership environment.

Jesus knew His ministry was about reaching lost people and more than just his inner circle of twelve disciples. Ultimately, He approached his teachings and leadership with a bigger picture in mind. He understood that His leadership style would be emulated and attempted to be duplicated. His destiny was to perform miracles and preach the Gospel so that the news would travel throughout the land. His ripple effect was an invaluable aspect of His ministry since there would be many who never crossed His path. As leaders ourselves, it is imperative we understand that our impact reaches beyond the four walls of our homes or businesses. If done well, we can rest assured in the good news that our teaching and example will live beyond our immediate sphere of influence.

Suffice it to say, many team members will adopt elements of their work environment and implement aspects of that leadership climate in other areas of their lives. Our wake-up call as leaders is to own the effects of our behavior that permeate beyond our immediate line of sight. I assume Timothy imitated his mentor Paul’s style and methodology when teaching his children or students. Joshua, most likely, took notes when observing Moses and the things he did well. It would be a mistake to underestimate the downstream impact of our leadership.

We should consider it is encouraging to know we are most likely impacting people we may never meet. The reality of our collateral contribution is refreshing if viewed with the right perspective. That responsibility should be taken seriously and valued accordingly. To whom much is given, much is required. Carrying the leadership torch with excellence reinforces the eventuality that we are lighting the way for others outside the boundaries of our charge. Lead as if you are impacting lives beyond the four walls of your leadership environment.
