Praying Grace for Women

DAY 3 OF 7

Know How to Make an Entrance

Any step toward God is ever and always met with Him taking many toward you. Picture the image of the father in Jesus’ parable of the Prodigal Son. There we see a father scanning the far horizon for a growing speck that just might be his beloved child returning. On the day that speck appeared, the father broke into a full run to meet him. That’s your heavenly Father.

You were created for intimate communion with Him. It’s the very reason He sent His precious and only Son. Jesus died to make a way for you and every willing heart to return to the life-giving presence of the Father.

All of this means there’s no “wrong” way to come to God. The important thing is just to come. But some ways of coming are indeed better than others. Today’s key passage recommends coming into the Father’s presence with “thanksgiving” and “praise.” This is powerful advice.

When you begin to contemplate God’s lovingkindness and graciousness toward you; when you spend a moment recalling the unmerited blessings, unearned rescues, and unrequested kindnesses; when you consider the magnitude of the gift that is Jesus, you put yourself in a posture of expectancy and joy. And such is the posture with which to best approach a Father who “is so loving it will amaze you—so kind it will astound you.”

Don’t come to God this way because it is the only way to come. It isn’t. Don’t come to God this way because it is the required way. It isn’t. Come to God this way because it is wildly appropriate. Come with expectancy and joy because when you’ve accurately glimpsed the reality of God’s goodness and the enormity of His grace, you can’t come any other way.

Daughter of God, your Father is “always good and ready to receive you.” Run joyfully now into Heaven’s gates and right into His glorious throne room with a heart overflowing with gratitude and mouth spilling over with praise. Do this and you might overhear an angel saying, “Now there’s a woman who knows how to make an entrance.”

Prayer of Declaration:

Oh, Father, I come to You at this moment with a heart overflowing with gratitude and mouth filled with praise for Your amazing love, Your astounding kindness, Your abundant mercies, and Your redemptive brilliance. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
