Top honours are given to athletes by awarding gold, silver and bronze medals. Gold is the one everyone wants to win. It symbolises the best.
Imagine the scene: You stand on the top step and the gold medal is placed around your neck. The crowd cheers and your national anthem is played, the sounds filling the stadium!
Hundreds of years ago, King Solomon built a beautiful Temple to honour God. It was decorated with gold, silver and bronze. The Temple symbolised God, his forgiveness, authority and a place of prayer.
Imagine the scene at the opening ceremony of the Temple. Everyone is wearing their best clothes, people are singing and trumpets are playing. The sound is tremendous! God enjoys the singing and praises.
And suddenly – Wow! – the glory of God fills the Temple!
