When Heaven Met Earth

DAY 1 OF 5

The Loss Of Heaven On Earth

We are created in the image of God. Every one of us. No exceptions. We are hardwired for intimacy with our Maker.

We are also riddled with the penchant for sin. We have parts of our heart, body and mind that are broken because of the broken state of the world which was initiated when Eve decided to believe a serpent over her Creator.

The fall, which began then, continues even now. We live in a world where men and women wound, bruise, hate, malign, kill and devour each other. The original intent of God for us was heaven on earth, yet thanks to our sinful condition, heaven diminished on earth and a hellish reality began.

God never left his creation alone, through even the most dark seasons of human history. He always came through, even when it seemed like things would only get worse. He gave his people laws and requirements that required the sacrifice of the best of what they had as an act of worship. His people worshipped him but they had wandering hearts that led them astray and into the outcomes of idolatry. The truth was that the blood sacrifices they offered God as worship or in repentance were insufficient and needed a more permanent all-encompassing solution.

Where has your life been touched by the brokenness of our world? Where do you see your insufficiency to earn your own salvation? Do you long to experience Heaven on earth?
