Biblical Success - Running in Galatians 2:20Sample

Biblical Success - Running in Galatians 2:20

DAY 2 OF 5

So, when we are “born again” as Jesus told Nicodemus we must be, (John 3:3) we believe in Him and by doing so join ourselves to Him in spirit. (I Cor.6:17) In other words, as Jesus prayed in His final prayer we become one with Him. We are united with Him in spirit. We are three part beings according to I Thessalonians 5:23 and at new birth our spirit is joined with Jesus’ Spirit in unity.

We signify that joining by being baptized. And we identify with His death and resurrection (Romans 6:3-6) as we go under the water and then are raised out of it. We signify that our “old man” or woman has been crucified and is dead and we are one with Christ. The power of sin in our lives is broken and has no dominion or rule over us. The old man or woman is dead and we are declared alive to God in Christ. So beautiful! Thank You, Father! (Romans 8:2)

However, there is a problem that we need to realize and deal with. It is the sort of ”now but not yet” area of theology that we aren’t able to go into in this format but the principle is that there are some things that are true now but won’t be fully realized in this world. Things like...”Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” We were transformed, are being transformed, and will ultimately be transformed in Heaven. So the old man is in fact dead but in reality he keeps crawling out of the grave and tempting us to revert to our old ways. He only has the power that we allow him but the temptations are very real.

In our quiet times we commune with Jesus and His Spirit in His Word, often feeling a unity and oneness with Him that is very hard to describe but very precious and real. But then we finish and go off into our day. How do we keep Jesus present with us as we go? Through the traffic and the jerk who cuts us off, the nasty phone call from a frustrated client, the baby who spills an entire bowl of gooey oatmeal on the floor, and on and on. How?

Read and think deeply about Galatians 2:20. What do you seem to hear Jesus saying?
