Together In The Journey

DAY 6 OF 14

Just Jump “For the sake of our emotions, we reminded Lori we didn’t want to view her full file as of yet. But I could picture a beautiful soon-to-be three year old, a child of God who deserved a healthy life and a loving family! I was committed to pray for her heart and seek help until God said to stop. “They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD” (Ps. 112:7, NIV). I clearly needed to stop and trust God to take care of our family and this little girl.” (Chapter 7) At this particular venture in our book, we had already received one referral of which we declined, and we had now received a second referral, but one with many uncertainties. Our prospective daughter was born with a severe heart defect, and at that time, we were unsure if our health insurance would even cover her much-needed surgery and medications. We did not know if we could accept a referral of a little girl that we so desperately wanted. But this IS the adoption process; it is full of uncertainty, ups and downs, and a whole lot of waiting. For us, there were many unknowns and leaps of faith we had to make. But we could make those jumps because we could jump into the arms of the heavenly Father and trust in Him to make all the tough decisions. Some other definitions of trust are confidence, faith, protection, and safekeeping. I feel like the first two definitions are carried out by our actions, as we have to place our confidence and faith in Him during our adoption. But the last two definitions I listed, I feel are completed by God. He protects us, our families, and our prospective children, and we are preserved in and can depend on His safekeeping. We do not have to fear the unknown or be anxious about future outcomes because we worship the Creator of the Universe and He knows all of our thoughts, concerns, and burdens. He knows the strands of hair on our heads, and the Bible says His thoughts of us outnumber the grains of sand. Remember, He knows our name. What do you need to trust God with today? Are you anxious about a situation you desire to control? Pray now and seek the comfort of the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to remove your anxiety and fear and replace it with a spirit of trust and contentment for what you have today.
