Your Soul is Precious Your inner life is precious. You cannot afford to neglect it. Of course, most of the time you do neglect it, because there seems to be so many things out there that you need to take care of, things that you feel are far more important than your soul. But that’s how the world shapes you, and, eventually, deceives you. It distracts you from what really matters, which is your soul. The goal is to make you focus on what you can see, smell, hear, taste and touch, your physical life, so that you won’t pay attention to what’s going on inside your soul, which is invisible. The world promises instant gratification and happiness, so that you won’t pay attention to the true state of your soul. Success will give you fulfillment, but it may also kill your soul in the process. The soul will not complain until it’s too late. The outer life is meaningless if the inner life is destroyed. If there is no sense of peace, joy, and rest, then all your accomplishments are hollow. All the applause in the world will not remove the emptiness that you feel inside. At the end of the day, after all the excitement has died down, you will be left by yourself. Then your soul will speak to you, and if it’s leaking, you will know it. When your life is unraveling before your very eyes, no outward success can compensate for it. You may continue to convince yourself that it’s all worth it, but your soul will not go along with your lie. The soul is created by God to be connected with Him as well as with others in real, authentic love. Anything less will slowly kill your soul. What good is it if you gain the whole world but lose your soul?
