DAY 3 OF 3

THE LORD ALWAYS KEEPS HIS PROMISE

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

Talking about the Lord's day makes us realize that none knows when the Lord will return. Indeed, some people said that the Lord would come on this date, this month, and this year; however, none of their predictions came true. Why? It’s because the word of God says that God's day will come like a thief. No one knows when the Lord will come but God has promised that He will return.

Other than groups of people who try to guess the coming of God, some other groups say the opposite - that God has neglected His promises. 2 Peter 3: 3-4 says that there will be scoffers who say, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”

Indeed, God has not returned at this time. It doesn’t mean that He fails to keep His promises. He hasn’t returned yet because He still expects many people to repent and come to Him before His second coming. Jesus has not returned yet because He does not want anyone to perish.

We also need to realize that our time is different from God's time. We cannot tell the Lord's coming in our time. This can be seen clearly in Jesus’ words in 2 Peter 3: 8 that says that our time and God’s time are different. In essence, God never fails to keep His promises because He is Immanuel—God with us.

Humans may be negligent in keeping their promises, but God will never fail to keep His promises because He is Immanuel—God with us.
