Life After Life

DAY 2 OF 7

When Adam and Eve sinned, their sin didn’t just affect the two of them- it affected every other person who has been born since, which is everyone in the whole world!

Everyone is born with a desire to do things their own way and disobey God. Because of our sin, we have a big problem- we are separated from God and his perfection, and therefore, we deserve to be punished and stay separated from him forever. When we die, we are going to spend eternity in one of two places- Heaven or Hell. If we spend eternity in Heaven, we will be with God forever, but Hell is the exact opposite- eternity separated from God. We all deserve to go to Hell because of our sin.

God is perfect, so he can’t be around sin; it is just impossible. That means that since we sin, we aren’t able to be near God on our own. Our life now and our eternity is going to be spent away from God unless we make a decision to trust Jesus. He is the only one who can take away the consequence of our sin.

Challenge: Today, we challenge you to think about some of the sins in your own life. What are ways that you have disobeyed God? It could be things you’ve thought, said to others, looked at, listened to, or done. Take some time today to confess your sins to God- tell him about them, and ask for forgiveness and his help for you to make better choices. If you have never trusted Jesus before, why not do that today too? Tell Jesus you’ve sinned, but also that you are trusting in Jesus to take that punishment for you and that you believe in Him to forgive you.
