DAY 2 OF 3

CONSISTENT

In all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you. (Titus 2: 7-8)

A successful swimming athlete said that one of the secrets of his success is ‘consistent” in his practice. The word consistent means “remain”, not to change and this is faithfulness. What God seeks from the believers is his faithfulness in following Jesus. Today there are so many temptations that can drag us to taste worldly pleasures. Just like food, at first, we just tasted but after we feel like it then we will eat it until it runs out.

Back to the athlete, he also stated that there are temptations and challenges of maintaining consistency. For example, he saw a teenager who could play games and walk to the mall or play together with their friends, while he had to practice in the pool. We experience the same thing, don’t we? There are things that can make us unwilling to read the Bible, not to pray longer because there are distractions and temptations.

Titus got an advice letter from Paul so that his life was not shifted by anything even by other teachings, or worldly things that could keep him away from the truth. Many things that we can see through the media or the internet, we must be vigilant because not all of the programs can build our spirit. Whatever is contrary to the Word of God, do not make it as a guidance in our lives. Let us be a Christian who is consistent with the Word of God.

Whatever is contrary to the Word of God, do not make it as a guidance in our lives.
