Clean Slate

DAY 2 OF 4

It has been well documented that New Year’s resolutions often go unfulfilled.

In fact, studies show that 60% of people make New Year’s resolutions, but that only about 8% actually go through with these goals. By February, 80% of these resolutions are abandoned. Gym owners noted that more memberships are purchased in January than in any other month.

People will pay for a membership, only to cancel in February.

It’s a vicious cycle of creating, attempting, and then forgetting New Year’s resolutions only to do the same thing again next year.

We also do this with our faith.

When things are going well and we feel content, we often wander from the path that God has made for us. We don’t often realize the need to walk in favor every day. We begin to follow our own path once again, and we do not do what God wants, but what we want.

But if we want a change, then we first need to change our actions.

And we all know that change is difficult.

But if you want to change, it will require hard work. As humans, it is in our nature to avoid doing things that are difficult and don’t bring us instant gratification. We don’t want to be sore. We don’t want to have to eat healthy. We don’t want to do those things, and, like our resolutions, we base our faith on emotional decisions.

Faith is not something we can pick up and drop off when we need it. Faith is like a plant; you have to water it if you want it to flourish. We can’t put our faith in the dark. We can’t let it sit.

We want change, and it starts with our actions and our attitudes!

If you’ve been going through a period of growth and change, know that you are being molded into the person that you were meant to be! Know that there is progress that comes with the pain!

Continue to water your faith. Give it room to grow, and harvest the fruit later.
