Say 'Yes' to the Dream 

Following God’s will for our lives sounds exciting; the reality, however, can be very different. Unsettling, uncomfortable, and frankly, a little bit terrifying!

But when God stirs something in your heart that you just can’t ignore, there really is only one answer: yes!

When Ed arrived back in the UK, he was struck by the divide between the secular and the spiritual. Over the years, Ed wrestled more and more with the challenging thoughts that God had placed on his heart. He said to himself: "If I couldn’t find a charity that married spiritual understanding with good outreach in the city, I was going to have to start one."

Ed did not have all the answers or a clear and straightforward path but still he pursued the dream that God had given him. 

Was it possible, he wondered, to start something that would reflect the beliefs that he had come to value? Was it possible to have humility to learn from everyone, while challenging the norms and systems? Was it possible to have a heart to listen to the homeless, while also proclaiming Jesus is Lord? To have a depth of spirituality that is attractive, loving, and true, while burning with an inner passion that fires one’s heart and drives one’s love? Could one create something that never lost those Christ-like central tenets of "releasing the oppressed" and "sharing the good news" and that expressed them in an appropriate, sensitive way, while holding in the heart a sense of mutuality? That was the challenge he was beginning to feel called to. It excited and terrified him.
