After you have completed today’s reading from the Bible, we encourage you to set aside a moment to listen along to the guide provided as we pray and allow God to speak to us through His Word.

1 John 1:5-7 says, “This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”

John’s message is a call to unity. Walking in light, or unity with Christ, enables us to have true fellowship, or unity with each other. God’s grace enables us to walk in light and live each day in unity with Christ. How are you walking in that light today? What does fellowship with Him look like for you right now?

Holiness is the Biblical expression of God existing in light and without any darkness. Is His invitation for you to live holy something that you often think about? Take a moment now to reflect on His call to holiness as He is holy.

Fellowship with Christ allows us to communicate freely to Him about our feelings, our struggles, and our triumphs while becoming familiar with His voice and allowing Him to speak to us. Talk to God, as you do to a close friend, about what you’re feeling right now. Ask Him to speak to you.

Ask God to help you to walk in the light today, that you would experience unity with Him and unity with other believers.

“Our Father, we thank You that You are holy. And You have called us to walk in Your holiness in pure and perfect light. We thank You that You have called us to walk together as a family of believers in unity and oneness. Help us today to live holy as You are holy. And teach us to bring to You all the things that we care about, are concerned with, and are worried for. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”
