“Part 3: The Narrow Gate - The Name of Jesus” The gate to life is Jesus. There is no other way, no other name. The name of Jesus gives us access to abundant, overflowing and eternal life. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus was absolutely clear; he didn’t refer to himself as a sign or administrator to knowing God. He said “I am the way.” While Jesus declares that He is the only way, He opens His way up to all who call upon His name. He’s as inclusive as He is exclusive—it’s the seemingly paradoxical nature of the gospel, and good news for everyone. So in order to access and enjoy the spacious, wide-open life Jesus came to bring, we have to believe Him when He also said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matt. 7:13–14). We can often face obstacles in life and feel pushed off the faithful path of following Christ. Our hopes for the future can seem so close and yet somehow just beyond reach; we don’t know how to access them. The path that leads to the place God is calling you to is a mystery, and without him, you can’t be sure which steps to take. The power of Jesus’ holy name is your key. His name is the narrow gate, and we have the right to live and operate under that great name above all names. Our names have limitations. If we live only within our own authority and influence, then we will always be constrained. Only one name elevates you beyond your natural limitations. It’s the name that can cause you to go where you’ve never gone; do what you’ve never done or even imagined yourself capable of doing. It’s a name equally personal as it is powerful, as intimate as it is universal, both exclusive in being the only way to God and yet totally inclusive in its invitation to all people. Jesus Christ – Lord. Speak the powerful name of Jesus over every aspect of your life today. Your health, family, safety, workplace, relationships, and church. Prayer: Thank You for the power you have made available to me in the Name of Jesus. I believe that in His Name, nothing will overcome me or prevent me from seeing the promises of God fulfilled in my life.
