Having a Stewardship Strategy

DAY 1 OF 3

Shrewdness

The main character of a parable found in the opening of Luke 16 is called an unrighteous steward. However, regardless of the steward’s motivation, Jesus still highlights his strategy as a life lesson for those who were listening to Him at that time, as well as a life lesson for each of us. “And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it fails, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings. He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much. Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?”

You and I must learn to live on earth in light of this future reality. We must make our decisions with an eternal perspective in mind. As much as possible, you must attach the spiritual to every choice you make, word you say, and thought you think. In doing so, you are seeking to impact the lives of people for good. Fulfilling these commandments means you and I are to be strategic about how we bring positive impact to others in such a way that brings God glory.
