DAY 6 OF 8

Value of man

First impressions are funny, aren’t they? We make up our minds about people within the first seven seconds of meeting them. We ascribe value to their person based on their looks, their financial status or the words coming out of their mouth. If we are to reach the lost, our value system must change. We must begin to see each person, not in light of the value we ascribe to them, but in light of the fact that God lovingly fashioned and formed this person.

Psalm 139:13-16 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

He has a destiny, a hope, and a future intended for them. (Jeremiah 29:11) And moreover, His love for them is so vast, He sent His Son to die to redeem them, regardless of how lost they may be.

Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Each and every person is valuable to the Father, and His heart is that not even one should go lost. This needs to become our heart as well. Would you invite God to come and transform your heart; to help you to see the true value of each person; and to give you His heart for the lost?

Reflect

  • What conclusions do you jump to when meeting new people?

  • What can help you to see each person with the same value that God has for them?

Prayer

  • Ask God to reveal the prejudices with which you see others.

  • Open your heart to Him so that He can start to transform your thinking and help you to see others as He sees them.

  • Ask God to give you His heart for the lost.
