DAY 2 OF 7

Day Two: Never Too Far Gone

Can you imagine a world without guilt, shame, or regret? We know this is too good to be true in the world we live in. But this is exactly what Adam and Eve experienced.

Then sin entered the story and everything shattered. They felt guilt so strong that they hid themselves from God. We’ve been doing the same ever since.

Most of us feel let down by life. Abuse, oppression, disease, the harmful acts of others, and our own poor choices mark our life stories. We’re terrified that deep down, we’re not okay because the awful truth is: we aren’t. Something of that original sin still flows in our veins. I call it the DNA of Eden. It stains our bodies, our minds, our hearts, and our world. We live in the aftermath of the fall.

We are not okay, but the good news is that we don’t have to be. God is not surprised by our brokenness any more than he is surprised when the sun rises in the morning. His plans are not ruined when we mess up or when tragedy strikes. No matter what happened or what you have done, you are never too far gone for God to redeem your story. Every time we fall, fumble to stand, fall again—Jesus is right here with us, helping and guiding.

Maybe you tried to start again and it didn’t work. Perhaps you’re too tired now. I know how hopeless it can feel. I gently insist that you were made for more. You’re one beautiful, gift of a life is worth fighting for. Christ thought you are worth dying for.

God doesn’t look for perfection in us, He sees that in Christ. All God looks for is the willingness to take His outstretched hand and try again.

Reflection Question

In what ways do you see that you’re not okay? What struggles are you facing right now? What would it look like to try again, this time with Jesus?

Prayer

God, thank you for being here with me, right now. Thank you for making me alright through your sacrifice on the cross. Please help me to move forward side-by-side with you.
