Life In The Kingdom

DAY 8 OF 45

Remain In Freedom

Paul gives us a description of what real freedom looks like. He says, “Look, I want you to understand what it means to be free.”

This is the first thing that he says, “Freedom is, in fact, what you've been set free for. You have been set free for freedom.” It is a completed past action. It is completely done. God has already done everything that we need in Jesus Christ to completely and totally free us. It has been done through the cross.

The Kingdom life brings true freedom. We are free from the guilt of sin because of Jesus. We are free from the penalty of sin because of the cross. And we are, through the Spirit, free from the power of sin. We are totally, completely and permanently free!

The Kingdom of God gives freedom. It is a domain where everything is given to us for free - it is a "free-domain" because it is in the "king-dominion". When we are in the Father's house, everything is provided for. We do not earn it. We do not deserve it. We receive it freely because Jesus has paid it all!

But our new life of freedom must be retained and sustained consistently and continuously. We do so by standing firm. Not wavering or moving away from the new life. Not returning or going back to the old life. We follow the leading of the Holy Spirit everyday, everywhere and in everything we do. This is life in the Spirit.

Prayer: Dear Father, help me be sensitive to the Holy Spirit so that I remain steadfast in my new life. Guide and lead me constantly as I seek Your word every day. I know I have full freedom that You have already given me freely. Help me use my freedom to glorify Your name. In Jesus’ precious name, I pray, Amen!
