Redefine The GrindSample

Redefine The Grind

DAY 1 OF 5

 “Embrace the daily grind”

Motivational speakers, salespeople, business owners, and athletes alike have said this. Yet, what if your daily grind does not produce results? Sometimes, it feels like we are working really hard and not seeing any fruit from our labor? Like a puppy chasing his tail, we feel exhausted and have nothing to show for it.

As an entrepreneur, I have felt this way more times than I can count. I felt it two decades ago when my company was first starting out. I felt it a decade ago when the economy was in shambles. Chances are, I will feel it again. I think it is common to feel frustrated when you do not begin to see the reward of your hard work. The daily grind is difficult. It is hard to wake up and go to work sometimes, and even harder if you feel as though your work is for nothing.

But something that I have realized about the grind is that we have it all wrong. You see, grinding and working diligently means nothing without direction. A boat without a compass will never reach its destination, no matter how fast it can go. An architect cannot build a mansion without a plan. The disciples could not perform miracles without following Jesus. It is important for us to have a plan with our work, and that plan should start and end with God.

The question I have for you is this:

Do you have a plan for your grind to adhere to? We may say that we are working hard, but if we are gaining no traction, can we really say this? There is a difference between being persistent and being progressive.

Being progressive means that you’re persistent. But being persistent does not always mean that you’re being progressive. If you can manage to change your definition of what grinding truly is, then you will be able to measure your productivity better and relieve yourself of some stress.

Are you being persistent in your grind? Are you being progressive?
