DAY 3 OF 5

I hope yesterday’s passage didn’t scare you off.  But the fact that you are reading this tells me you are at least interested enough to keep reading.  We understand that this might be the first time you’ve heard that you were created for the purpose of sharing the Gospel with your peers.  You’ve probably had a youth leader or a pastor tell you that you should invite your friends to come to church, but you have never heard that you have the privilege of sharing about Jesus with your friends.

This can be a scary thing to realize.  It brings up a lot of uncertainty in our minds.  We think about all the bad things we have done, all the times we feel that we have failed or let God down, and we think “Why me God?  Why would you use someone like me to share about Your Son with other students in my school?”  Maybe you also feel fear, maybe your friends at school don’t even know about your faith, it can be a scary thought to share something so personal and meaningful.

There was a guy who lived about 700 years before the birth of Jesus who felt the exact way you might feel right now.  His name was Isaiah, and one day God showed Isaiah all of His glory and Isaiah saw all of heaven singing praises to God on His throne.  It was an amazing and terrifying sight and Isaiah cried out in fear that he wasn’t worthy to see what he was seeing or be part of what God had planned for his people.  But God assured Isaiah that because of God’s goodness and mercy his sins were forgiven and that God had a message for His people that He wanted Isaiah to share.  Isaiah rose to his feet and boldly declared that he would go and share this message with God’s people.

In the same way, our sins have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ and we have the same calling as Isaiah.  So fear not, rest in your forgiveness and the power of God’s calling, and go share the good news that Jesus Christ has made a way for people to be in a relationship with God.
