DAY 4 - Changed to Bring Change
Do you enjoy math?
I know for some of us reading this, just the word “algebra” or “trigonometry” brings a whole range of triggered emotions we would rather leave in high school.
Math is an interesting subject, because it’s a subject of patterns.
I used to procrastinate doing my math homework because I would dread the repetitive nature of doing the exercises again and again just to prepare for a test. But, the more I practiced those exercises, the better I got at identifying patterns, to then outwork those patterns in my end of year exams
In the same way, we can identify patterns in ourselves & in our world.
In Romans 12, we read:
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
We all have patterns in our lives that come in the form of our habits.
One of the most important habits we can build is daily renewing our mind, through reading of the Word of God.
By renewing our mind in the Word, we reveal the patterns within our lives we want to change, and can renew our vision for what God wants to do through us in our neighbourhood — we can see his "good, pleasing & perfect will".
The daily habit of getting into the Word of God is something that will transform the way you live. It will sustain you, renew your vision & breathe purpose into your daily life.
Bringing change to our neighbourhoods, begins with bringing change within ourselves.
Questions:
(1) What are some ways you can apply the word of God to your life after reading more intentionally?
Could it be journaling what you’ve read, specifically praying about what you’ve read, or even calling a friend to talk through what you’ve read?
(2) Choose a verse that you can renew your mind with today.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus. Thank you for the gift of your Word. Today I pray that you would renew my mind as I reflect on you. I invite you to change me & search my heart. In Jesus Name. Amen.
關於此計劃
You have more influence than you realise in your neighbourhood. We are all part of a neighbourhood in society – whether you are an architect, teacher, student, nurse or entrepreneur. We each have a voice that can bring change to our neighbourhoods. You're not just in a career, you're now in your calling. The Neighbourhood is a new program from Hillsong Young Adults.
