Neighbor Groups: Elevate Education预览
Learning in Action
Education matters to God because it’s an opportunity that allows us to get to know Him and serve others. And when we use our education, knowledge, experience, gifts, and passions to serve others, we’re fulfilling Jesus’ prayer in Matthew 6:
“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’” Matthew 6:9-10 NIV
Jesus taught us to pray for His Kingdom to take over the earth. And not only do we pray for it, but we also get to take an active part in the answer by using what we have to serve others and reflect His light to the world.
Jesus also modeled using His education for the good of others during His life on earth.
We see a specific example of this in Luke 2 when Jesus was 12 years old. His parents went looking for Him, only to find out that He was sitting with the teachers at the temple, asking questions and growing in knowledge. Then, we learn this:
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52 NIV
Even Jesus gained more wisdom over time. And how did He use that knowledge, wisdom, and education? To fulfill His purpose and glorify His Father.
Jesus perfectly modeled education for us while also reminding us that it’s not just about us. Our education can prepare us for the plans God has for us, and those plans are always designed to honor God by loving others.
So, as you reflect on all we’ve covered on education, how might God be calling you to use your education, skills, or opportunities to serve others and honor Him?
How might you bring a little more of God’s Kingdom here on earth by the way you put your knowledge into action?
Maybe you feel passionate about advocating for equal access to education, so you write to local officials, research a nonprofit in your area, or work with your local school board. Maybe you have the opportunity to mentor a new believer as they grow in their walk with Christ. Maybe you volunteer to read with a child in a local school.
No matter what your next step is, your education could be a catalyst for a positive change in someone else’s life. So let’s use our experiences and opportunities well, steward them wisely, and advocate for others to have better access to quality education.
Pray: God, thank You for the educational opportunities You’ve given me. Help me to see them as resources that are equipping me for the plans You have for me. Show me ways to use my knowledge and skills in ways that benefit my neighbors. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Challenge: As you reflect on this Bible Plan, what’s one next step you can take to invest in the education of others in your community?

No two people have the same set of choices or experiences, but education can level the ground for growth. That’s why we listen to educators, get to know our schools, tutor in our communities, and invest in environments where people can’t help but learn.
