The Bible Series

While tending to a flock of his father-in-law’s sheep, Moses came upon a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses was amazed that the bush had not burned up, even though it was engulfed in flames. As he went in to take a closer look, the Lord called out to him from the middle of the bush. In his encounter with the Lord, Moses learned that God would use him to lead His people out of Egypt and into the promised land. Moses, a self-proclaimed poor speaker, was terrified; but God assured him that He would perform miracles and guide him to success.  This video from BibleSeries.tv is based on Exodus 3.

Burning Bush

An angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah and his wife to tell them they would be blessed with a son. The angel explained that their son would be dedicated to God and that his hair must never be cut.  Samson was strong enough to kill a lion with his bare hands and fierce enough to kill 1000 Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey. The Philistine leaders were eager to capture Samson, so they offered a woman named Delilah a sum of money to uncover the secret of Samson's strength. Using seduction and deception, Delilah convinced Samson to admit that his strength would leave him if his hair was cut. While he slept, Delilah shaved off seven braids of Samson's hair, and he was weak enough to be captured and humiliated by the Philistines. They gouged his eyes and made him perform hard labor. The Philistines had a large festival to celebrate Samson's capture, and people crowded into the temple to ridicule him. Samson was chained to the pillars of the temple as he prayed that God would restore his strength one last time. God answered Samson's prayer, and Samson was able to knock down the temple's pillars, killing all of the Philistine rulers and citizens that were inside. He killed more of his enemies during his last sacrifice than he did in his entire lifetime.  This video from BibleSeries.tv is based on Judges 16.

Samson

The Philistine and Israelite armies faced each other from opposite hills, with a valley between them. Every morning and every evening, a Philistine giant named Goliath taunted the Israelites from the valley. He challenged the Israelites, stating that if any one man could slay him, the Philistines would become slaves to the Israelites. If Goliath killed the Israelite, the Israelites would be slaves to the Philistines. For forty days, none of the Israelites had the courage to face Goliath. A boy named David was delivering a message to Saul, King of the Israelites, when he heard Goliath taunting his people. David volunteered to fight Goliath, knowing that he had the power of the Lord of Heaven's armies, while Goliath was merely a man with a sword and shield. Armed with only a sling and stones, David defeated Goliath; and the Israelites triumphed over the Philistines.  This video from BibleSeries.tv is based on 1 Samuel 17.

John the Baptist knew his mission in life. God gave him the responsibility to prepare people for the coming of the Messiah by turning away from sin and by being baptized as a symbol of repentance. When asked if he was the Messiah, John responded that he was not worthy to be the Messiah's slave and untie the straps of his sandals. Jesus traveled from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. As John baptized Jesus, the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus like a dove. Strong winds and heavy waves threatened the disciples as they made their way across the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was alone praying when he saw the trouble his disciples were facing. He walked on water toward the boat, but the disciples were frightened until they realized it was Jesus. Jesus invited Peter to step out of the boat and walk towards him, but when Peter took his eyes off Jesus and saw the wind and waves, he doubted Jesus and began to sink. Jesus saved Peter and carried him back into the boat. When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped and the disciples worshipped Him.  This video from BibleSeries.tv is based on Matthew 14.
