اُس نے جَواب دیا، ” ’خُداوؔند اَپنے خُدا سے اَپنے سارے دِل اَور اَپنی ساری جان اَور اَپنی ساری طاقت اَور اَپنی ساری عقل سے مَحَبّت رکھو‘ اَور ’اَپنے پڑوسی سے اَپنی مانِند مَحَبّت رکھنا۔‘“ یِسوعؔ نے اُس سے کہا، ”تُونے ٹھیک جَواب دیا ہے۔ یہی کر تو تُو زندہ رہے گا۔“ مگر اُس نے اَپنی راستبازی جتانے کی غرض سے، یِسوعؔ سے پُوچھا، ”میرا پڑوسی کون ہے؟“
