Kingdom
First things first. Jesus teaches us that all of our needs and desires are also on God’s agenda. He deeply cares about our everyday existence. The best way to live is purely to put all those things second as we place God and His purposes first in our lives.
Matthew 6:33 But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.
Another translation says: ‘Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you!’ Maybe it can be compared to chasing your shadow. As long as you chase it you will never catch it, but when you turn towards the sun your shadow will follow you everywhere. We believe that as we turn our faces to our God and His righteous ways, then money and resources will follow us as we seek to live a life that pleases Him first!
Mark 8:36 CSB For what does it benefit someone to gain the whole world and yet lose his life?
The problem is not that we have ambition and want to be successful. The problem is when it comes at the cost of our souls.
Let’s look at how it practically plays out when we put God first:
- The first thing is to pray about every big decision we make concerning our finances.
- Then we seek Godly wisdom from the scriptures and from mature Christians about those decisions.
- As we live with the desire to honor God, we also acknowledge that we will make mistakes, but we are eager to repent from them and to turn back to His ways as soon as we discover our mistakes.
- Lastly, we realize that our financial decisions are a testimony to our surrender to Jesus!

About this Plan
In the person of Jesus, God calls all people not to simply know about Him, but to follow Him with all that we are. Following Jesus daily is more like a habit than it is a moment. Habits are things we do often and regularly, without consciously thinking we have to do them. This 40-day plan will explore life-giving habits to establish us in the new life that Jesus gives.
