Your Best Is Yet to Come: A Daily Devotional Намуна
GOD IS OUT BACK AND BEYOND
When you’re travelling through a wilderness experience in life, you can feel incredibly alone, like everyone has deserted you; like there’s not a soul who’s there to hold you. But the truth is, even when you’re out the back of beyond, God is there with you.
In the last devotion, we began learning about Moses – this burnt-out old wreck of a man who thought his life was over, and who remembered what it was like to grow up in the privilege of Pharaoh’s palace. He’d lost all of that and he was out there in the middle of nowhere, alone.
There’s 80-year-old Moses, feeling on the shelf, past his “use by” date, and yet that’s when God showed up in a burning bush. God called Moses to go back to Pharaoh, and tell him to let God’s people go. Through Moses, God sent ten powerful plagues. Through Moses, God led the Israelites out of their slavery. Through Moses, God parted the Red Sea. Through Moses, God led the Israelites towards the Promised Land.
Friend, God has put something in you. God has given you certain gifts, experiences and abilities. Now, God wants to ignite your passion – just like He did with Moses – because He has a plan to use all of that for His glory.
You have some dreams, gifts, capabilities and passions that only you have – I don’t have them, and the next person doesn’t have them. But you do!
Out there in the middle of the desert of life, even beyond the wilderness, when it feels as though there’s no one out there and no one to care, God is in that place with you. And He’s going to work out His good and perfect purpose for your life.
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
- Take a moment to be honest with yourself. Are you focusing more on the adversity you face than on the gifts and abilities God has given you?
- Go to Psalm 139:13–18. Read this passage carefully. Re-read it. What’s God saying to you through this Psalm?
- Now, head across to Proverbs 3:5–6. What is God saying to you through these Scriptures?
- Consider how you might be able to use what God has given you for His glory in this situation, while you wait for Him to lead you to the next “best” thing.
