Psalms 6:1-5
Psalms 6:1-5 The Message (MSG)
Please, GOD, no more yelling, no more trips to the woodshed. Treat me nice for a change; I’m so starved for affection. Can’t you see I’m black-and-blue, beaten up badly in bones and soul? GOD, how long will it take for you to let up? Break in, GOD, and break up this fight; if you love me at all, get me out of here. I’m no good to you dead, am I? I can’t sing in your choir if I’m buried in some tomb!
Psalms 6:1-5 King James Version (KJV)
O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, Neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed: But thou, O LORD, how long? Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: Oh save me for thy mercies' sake. For in death there is no remembrance of thee: In the grave who shall give thee thanks?
Psalms 6:1-5 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your wrath. Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am pining away; Heal me, O LORD, for my bones are dismayed. And my soul is greatly dismayed; But You, O LORD—how long? Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your lovingkindness. For there is no mention of You in death; In Sheol who will give You thanks?
Psalms 6:1-5 New Century Version (NCV)
LORD, don’t correct me when you are angry; don’t punish me when you are very angry. LORD, have mercy on me because I am weak. Heal me, LORD, because my bones ache. I am very upset. LORD, how long will it be? LORD, return and save me; save me because of your kindness. Dead people don’t remember you; those in the grave don’t praise you.
Psalms 6:1-5 American Standard Version (ASV)
O Jehovah, rebuke me not in thine anger, Neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah; for I am withered away: O Jehovah, heal me; for my bones are troubled. My soul also is sore troubled: And thou, O Jehovah, how long? Return, O Jehovah, deliver my soul: Save me for thy lovingkindness’ sake. For in death there is no remembrance of thee: In Sheol who shall give thee thanks?
Psalms 6:1-5 New International Version (NIV)
LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint; heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, LORD, how long? Turn, LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love. Among the dead no one proclaims your name. Who praises you from the grave?
Psalms 6:1-5 New King James Version (NKJV)
O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled. My soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O LORD—how long? Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake! For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks?
Psalms 6:1-5 Amplified Bible (AMP)
O LORD, do not rebuke or punish me in Your anger, Nor discipline me in Your wrath. Have mercy on me and be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am weak (faint, frail); Heal me, O LORD, for my bones are dismayed and anguished. My soul [as well as my body] is greatly dismayed. But as for You, O LORD—how long [until You act on my behalf]? ¶Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your [unfailing] steadfast love and mercy. For in death there is no mention of You; In Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead) who will praise You and give You thanks?
Psalms 6:1-5 New Living Translation (NLT)
O LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage. Have compassion on me, LORD, for I am weak. Heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. I am sick at heart. How long, O LORD, until you restore me? Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love. For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave?
Psalms 6:1-5 The Passion Translation (TPT)
YAHWEH, don’t condemn me. Don’t punish me in your fiery anger. Please deal gently with me, YAHWEH; show me mercy, for I’m sick and frail and weak. Heal me, YAHWEH, for I’m falling apart. My soul is so troubled; but you, YAHWEH—how long? YAHWEH, turn to me and rescue my life because I know your faithful love will never fail me. In the darkness of death who remembers your name in worship? How could I bring you praise if I’m buried in a tomb?
Psalms 6:1-5 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath. Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled. My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O LORD—how long? Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise?
