Jeremiah 6:29-30
Jeremiah 6:29-30 New Living Translation (NLT)
The bellows fiercely fan the flames to burn out the corruption. But it does not purify them, for the wickedness remains. I will label them ‘Rejected Silver,’ for I, the LORD, am discarding them.”
Jeremiah 6:27-30 The Message (MSG)
GOD gave me this task: “I have made you the examiner of my people, to examine and weigh their lives. They’re a thickheaded, hard-nosed bunch, rotten to the core, the lot of them. Refining fires are cranked up to white heat, but the ore stays a lump, unchanged. It’s useless to keep trying any longer. Nothing can refine evil out of them. Men will give up and call them ‘slag,’ thrown on the slag heap by me, their GOD.”
Jeremiah 6:29-30 King James Version (KJV)
The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away. Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.
Jeremiah 6:29-30 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
The bellows blow fiercely, The lead is consumed by the fire; In vain the refining goes on, But the wicked are not separated. They call them rejected silver, Because the LORD has rejected them.
Jeremiah 6:29-30 New Century Version (NCV)
The fire is fanned to make it hotter, but the lead does not melt. The pure metal does not come out; the evil is not removed from my people. My people will be called rejected silver, because the LORD has rejected them.”
Jeremiah 6:29-30 American Standard Version (ASV)
The bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed of the fire: in vain do they go on refining; for the wicked are not plucked away. Refuse silver shall men call them, because Jehovah hath rejected them.
Jeremiah 6:29-30 New International Version (NIV)
The bellows blow fiercely to burn away the lead with fire, but the refining goes on in vain; the wicked are not purged out. They are called rejected silver, because the LORD has rejected them.”
Jeremiah 6:29-30 New King James Version (NKJV)
The bellows blow fiercely, The lead is consumed by the fire; The smelter refines in vain, For the wicked are not drawn off. People will call them rejected silver, Because the LORD has rejected them.”
Jeremiah 6:29-30 Amplified Bible (AMP)
The bellows blow fiercely, The lead is consumed by the fire; In vain they continue refining, But the wicked are not separated and removed. They call them rejected silver [only dross, without value], Because the LORD has rejected them.
Jeremiah 6:29-30 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Though the bellows blow fiercely, yet the smelter smelts to no avail. Fire melts and burns away the lead, but my refining fire fails to separate the dross of their wickedness. They are called ‘rejected silver,’ for YAHWEH has rejected them.”
