1 Corinthians 10:8
1 Corinthians 10:6-10 The Message (MSG)
The same thing could happen to us. We must be on guard so that we never get caught up in wanting our own way as they did. And we must not turn our religion into a circus as they did—“First the people partied, then they threw a dance.” We must not be sexually promiscuous—they paid for that, remember, with 23,000 deaths in one day! We must never try to get Christ to serve us instead of us serving him; they tried it, and God launched an epidemic of poisonous snakes. We must be careful not to stir up discontent; discontent destroyed them.
1 Corinthians 10:8 King James Version (KJV)
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
1 Corinthians 10:8 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day.
1 Corinthians 10:8 New Century Version (NCV)
We must not take part in sexual sins, as some of them did. In one day twenty-three thousand of them died because of their sins.
1 Corinthians 10:8 American Standard Version (ASV)
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
1 Corinthians 10:8 New International Version (NIV)
We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.
1 Corinthians 10:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell
1 Corinthians 10:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
We must not indulge in [nor tolerate] sexual immorality, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand [suddenly] fell [dead] in a single day! [Num 25:1-18]
1 Corinthians 10:8 New Living Translation (NLT)
And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day.
