Och hans bud kan du redan: 'Du ska inte mörda, Du ska inte vara otrogen i ditt äktenskap, Du ska inte stjäla, Du ska inte ljuga eller vittna falskt. Du ska inte lura av någon det som är hans, Visa respekt för dina föräldrar.' " "Mästare", svarade mannen, "alla dessa bud har jag hållit ända sedan jag var ung." Då fylldes Jesus av kärlek och såg på honom och sa: "Det är bara en sak till du behöver göra. Gå och sälj allt du äger och ge pengarna åt de fattiga. Då ska du få en skatt i himlen. Kom sedan och följ mig." Men när mannen hörde det mörknade hans ansikte och han gick bedrövad bort, för han var mycket rik.
