Vi har alltså skyldigheter, syskon (bröder och systrar i tron), men inte mot vår köttsliga natur så att vi ska leva efter köttet. Om ni lever efter köttet kommer ni att dö. Men om ni genom Anden dödar kroppens gärningar kommer ni att leva. För alla som leds (drivs) av Guds Ande är Guds söner (barn). För ni fick inte (tog inte emot) slaveriets ande för att falla tillbaka in i fruktan (vilket återigen leder till rädsla), utan ni tog emot barnaskapets Ande [som ger söners rätt], i vilken vi [ständigt] ropar [högt; vädjande efter hjälp]: ”Abba (pappa)! Fader!”
