Galatians 4:3
Galatians 4:3 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world.
Galatians 4:1-3 The Message (MSG)
Let me show you the implications of this. As long as the heir is a minor, he has no advantage over the slave. Though legally he owns the entire inheritance, he is subject to tutors and administrators until whatever date the father has set for emancipation. That is the way it is with us: When we were minors, we were just like slaves ordered around by simple instructions (the tutors and administrators of this world), with no say in the conduct of our own lives.
Galatians 4:3 King James Version (KJV)
Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world
Galatians 4:3 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
So also we, while we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental things of the world.
Galatians 4:3 New Century Version (NCV)
It is the same for us. We were once like children, slaves to the useless rules of this world.
Galatians 4:3 American Standard Version (ASV)
So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the rudiments of the world
Galatians 4:3 New International Version (NIV)
So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world.
Galatians 4:3 New King James Version (NKJV)
Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world.
Galatians 4:3 Amplified Bible (AMP)
So also we [whether Jews or Gentiles], when we were children (spiritually immature), were kept like slaves under the elementary [man-made religious or philosophical] teachings of the world.
