Neskôr Jošafáta napadli Moábčania, Ammónčania a s nimi niektorí Meunci. Jošafát dostal hlásenie: „Mohutný dav spoza mora a zo Sýrie sa valí proti tebe a je už v Chacecón-Tamáre, teda v Én-Gedi.“ Jošafát sa preľakol, dopytoval sa Hospodina a po celom Judsku vyhlásil pôst. Vtedy sa zhromaždili Júdovci, aby hľadali pomoc u Hospodina. I zo všetkých judských miest ho prišli vzývať.
